Irish and Denman is an Independent family funeral directors, and has been serving South Petherton and the surrounding areas since the 1920s. Nigel Irish joined the family business in the early 1980s.
In 2021, Nigel entrusted his business to family funeral directors A.J. Wakely & Sons and after several years of working alongside them, Nigel is enjoying retirement. Irish and Denman continues to offer funeral services in South Petherton under the careful care of Clive Wakely and Matthew Paterson.

Matthew Paterson is the manager of our Yeovil office and also operates as funeral director for our Yeovil, Crewkerne, Sherborne, South Petherton and Wincanton offices.
With over 15 years of experience, Matthew takes pride in all that he does and aims to offer the very best service to our clients.
Ross,
Funeral Director
Ross is one of our caring funeral directors working in South Petherton and Yeovil office.
Ross has spent nearly two years working with us and enjoys being a support for bereaved families across Somerset.
Jude,
Office Manager
Jude works alongside our funeral directors at our South Petherton office and is responsible for the everyday management of the office. Jude is here to offer guidance and support to the surrounding communities.
Irish & Denman is a proud member of the Industries Professional bodies and adhere to the high standards set by the NAFD ( National Association of Funeral Directors) and SAIF (The National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors). The office is inspected by the NAFD regularly, with the most recent NAFD inspection less than a year ago. The certificate confirming that Irish & Denman passed the inspection is proudly displayed in the office.
