Since opening in 1987, the Yeovil office has been an integral part of caring for Yeovil's bereaved families whilst helping local community groups, charities and churches. The office is overseen by director Clive Wakely who has worked within the family business for more than 40 years. The office is managed by Matthew Paterson and supported by his friendly team; Frank, Laura, and Naomi.

Clive Wakely,
Funeral Director
In 1982 Clive joined his father, Jack Wakely, at the family funeral directors. Now with over 40 years of experience, Clive is a recognisable and well-respected person within the communities he serves.
Clive is compassionate, experienced and professional, taking pride in managing the business and continuing the traditions of A.J.Wakely & Sons.
Matt Paterson,
Funeral Director
Matthew Paterson is the manager of our Yeovil office and also operates as funeral director for our Yeovil, Crewkerne, Sherborne and Wincanton offices.
Matthew holds a National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) Diploma in Funeral Directing.
With over 15 years of experience, Matthew takes pride in all that he does and aims to offer the very best service to our clients.
Frank,
Funeral Director
Frank is our experienced and caring funeral director for both Crewkerne and Yeovil.
Frank has spent more than 10 years’ working with A.J.Wakely & Sons and enjoys being a support for bereaved families across Somerset.
A.J.Wakely & Sons adhere and uphold the National Association of Funeral Directors code of Practice, ensuring that all members of its staff are trained to recognise the code and their responsibilities to adhere to it. The office is inspected by the NAFD regularly, with the most recent NAFD inspection less than a year ago. The certificate confirming that A.J.Wakely & Sons passed the inspection is proudly displayed in the office.
