A.J.Wakely & Sons - Bridport Office
After starting as wheelwrights and undertakers Arthur and Ernie Wakely opened their funeral directors in Broadwindsor. Jack followed in the footsteps of his uncles and in 1970 opened his first office in Bridport. Jack remained in the trade whilst also continuing a career as Publican and Builder in Beaminster.
Today Bridport is managed by Simon Wakely (Jack's grandson), supported by Clive Wakely and their experienced and dedicated team; Tim Nickels and Chris Legg as funeral directors along with Angela and Amanda who manage the day-to-day running of the office.

Simon Wakely,
Director
In 1995 Simon joined his father, David Wakely, and grandfather, Jack Wakely at the funeral directors in Bridport, where he learned the profession.
Now with almost 30 years experience, Simon continues to follow family traditions and enjoys serving the local communities.
Tim Nickels,
Funeral Director
Tim Nickels is a long-standing, dedicated and caring member of the A.J.Wakely & Sons team.
Operating as a funeral director from Bridport and Lyme Regis for over 15 years, he has a wealth of experience and is a recognisable face in the towns he works in.
Chris Legg,
Funeral Director
Chris joined the business in 2012 where he managed our operations department in Bridport for several years.
In 2016, Chris achieved his British Institute of Funeral Directors (BIFD) Diploma in Funeral Directing which helped to equip him with the necessary skills and knowledge to be a funeral director.
He works predominantly from the Lyme Regis and Bridport offices.
A.J.Wakely & Sons adhere and uphold the National Association of Funeral Directors code of Practice, ensuring that all members of its staff are trained to recognise the code and their responsibilities to adhere to it. The office is inspected by the NAFD regularly, with the most recent NAFD inspection less than a year ago. The certificate confirming that A.J.Wakely & Sons passed the inspection is proudly displayed in the office.
