Our Sherborne office has been serving the bereaved since 1999. The office is now an established part of Sherborne and is managed by Richard Wakely, funeral director, Catherine, office manager and supported by Matthew Paterson, funeral director.

Richard Wakely,
Funeral Director
Richard has a Diploma in funeral Arranging and Administration (DipFAA). Richard joined the family business in 2014 after years of charity work in the Philippines. Richard is proudly following in the footsteps of his father Clive Wakely, Director of A.J.Wakely & Sons.
Following several years of training, Richard is a caring and experienced funeral director.
Matt Paterson,
Funeral Director
Matthew Paterson is the manager of our Yeovil office and also operates as funeral director for our Yeovil, Crewkerne, Sherborne and Wincanton offices.
Matthew holds a National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) Diploma in Funeral Directing.
With over 15 years of experience, Matthew takes pride in all that he does and aims to offer the very best service to our families.
Catherine,
Office Manager
Since joining the business Catherine has gained extensive knowledge of Sherborne's local community.
Catherine is available to help you through your time of bereavement.
A.J.Wakely & Sons adhere and uphold the National Association of Funeral Directors code of Practice, ensuring that all members of its staff are trained to recognise the code and their responsibilities to adhere to it. The office is inspected by the NAFD regularly, with the most recent NAFD inspection less than a year ago. The certificate confirming that A.J.Wakely & Sons passed the inspection is proudly displayed in the office.
